Yesterday it was high tide, forcing me to run (and mostly clamber) over the deep ruts left by the numerous vehicles that Riverhead actually encourages people to drive on what is in name only a "beach" (and more like a marine training ground). I wish Riverheaders would look at some real beaches (eg in neighboring towns) and see how pleasant and relaxing they are in their natural state. Most people go to the beach to escape traffic, trash, fumes and gunfire. They relish smooth clean sand, the sound of the waves and the chance to get some exercise, but a lot of Riverheaders seem oblivious to these joys.
I collected 3 buckets of garbage.
The beach west of Roanoke Point in Riverhead, Long Island is magnificent - but in trouble. In this blog I document the good, the bad and the ugly.
