There's an article in yesterday's NY Times about beach trash which claims it's dominated by cigarette butts. But (no pun intended) I've never seen a butt in all the tons I've collected over the last year. Maybe they are just too small or otherwise inconspicuous. Most of the trash this morning was bits and pieces:
Running was much easier now the tide is lower at around 7.30 am, so I'm not forced into the maze of ruts that covers the upper beach.
The beach west of Roanoke Point in Riverhead, Long Island is magnificent - but in trouble. In this blog I document the good, the bad and the ugly.
